Its difficult to self-identify as, "open-minded" when most perceive its meaning as being derivative of alternative societal constructs, rather than living abstractly self-aware.

Oh, so true! Does that mean the inverse--"normal" societal constructs are synonymous with being "closed minded"?

Only when followed blindly. I've found - by deconstructing societal norms - that many are solidly founded and rooted in harmonious outcomes and should be followed because they work!

Many others, however, are not.
