I saw a lot lizard (read: filthy truck-stop prostitute) crying in the parking lot at Love's at midnight one evening awhile back. I had to wrestle my compassion back, as I knew any intervention on my part could only end badly.

I just saw a girl at work crying. She was on the phone. It was hard not to steal glimpses of her even though I couldn't hear anything she was saying. I wanted to comfort her. But how much of that was because she was 'effing HOT!

Compassion is confusing.

What would the Dalai Lama say?

Hell, what would my wife say!

If love is blind, why do we have lingerie?

Yeah its not an easy trick. The desire to help immediately gets me in trouble all the time.

Sometimes we just can’t fix something and that sucks.

Women cry just to cry sometimes. I usually get "I'm ok" or "I just need a moment" when trying to offer comfort.

Tread carefully my friend... you may end up getting an extended venting session... in which case you have to wait it out.

My cousin Michael, Jason's brother, felt compassion once for a homeless lot lizard. He took her home and let her sleep on the couch despite his wife's objections. He soon cheated on his wife with her and ended up getting divorced and marrying the white trash lot lizard. Soon they had a baby and then she left him and the baby for the two white trash guys in the house across the street. He soon moved out of embarrassment. I don't think there is anything worse than a white trash lot lizard from West Texas.

Although as a general rule men in this country don't cry, I would ask, would you feel the same compassion toward an obviously distressed male? If the answer is no, then you know the answer to your question is because she was "effin' hot", and what you were feeling had nothing to do with compassion.
