I have in my hands the widescreen DVD release of Star Trek. $14.96 at Wal-Mart at 0800 this morning. Oh beautiful day! To celebrate, I'm listening to the score on my iPod at work (having previously been whistling it aloud at my desk). Tonight, the premiere! Additionally, my folks are coming in to see it Sunday. I'm grilling burgers. It should be a great time after this past weekend's manual labor. More on that later.

I'd also like to invite each of you to visit trunthepaige who's recently migrated from Xanga. She's old guard over there and I'm just tickled pink she's joined our ranks.

She's as soft as bubble bath; I'm as hard as Chinese math.

At first thought, I thought it was highly inappropriate the way that you introduced trunthepaige--basically you saying that you had a hard-on over a newlywed. But then I remembered you always speak in oblique riddles so I re-read your text.

If you like! You could alway do what I do: Read & assess. I only agree with about 50% of what she has to say, but the distance she puts between herself and her questions are always amusing - then when the other foot drops (and it almost always drops) she reveals herself in the comments.

For me its not about always agreeing, but finding someone with a different opinion who is able to articulate it ;)

I've seen that a couple of times, and I don't mind admitting, I feel the sting of entitlement when it does. But that's awesome for you guys. Perhaps South Africa is the promised land of milk & honey and we've gotten it wrong all these years? Hell, if I were walking from Egypt to where you live, it might take me 40-years too!

Very jealous about the Star Trek. Sadly we’re close enough to the holidays that I need to avoid buying DVDs and CD’s. Those items fit the kids limited budgets well.

One way or the other though I’ll be watching that movie on December 26!

We got our kids' gifts early this year again. (http://ehowton.livejournal.com/289137.html) We are on financial "lockdown" until taxes are paid first of the year (I don't do escrow) but we've been planning this evening with the folks for three months now (ever since we heard the planned release date!)

So tonight, Star Trek with the kids (they've not seen it), then Sunday with my folks, then...well, probably Speed Racer because I'll be in that Michael Giacchino mood!

I don’t mind having the additional clutter all the much if they’re keepers, besides they are one the few things the kids can afford to buy me for Xmas and know I’ll like.

Ditching media: In a few years I plan on setting up a video & audio file server that for our entertainment systems to save space. Not until we’re done with daycare though so I have the $$ to do it properly.
