When I was stationed at the 480th Intelligence Group attached to the 36th Tactical Intelligence Squadron at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia there was a young airman who showed up from Tech School who was assigned to our sister squadron, the 27th. Though I rarely interacted with him directly, you cannot be in a tactical environment holed away from the rest of the base because of your mission without knowing everything about everyone else around you.
I found today that that young man had been a hostage in Columbia since February 2003, and was rescued six days ago during a Colombian military rescue operation.

I'm not going to complain today. About anything.

Fantastic plan for the day! We should all be exclaiming what we're happy about today instead.

Kellie Here
I PCSd to SOUTHCOM in 2002, so was shocked when I heard that he was part of the group that was kidnapped. I ran some interference between his mom and the J2 and the operations side of the house trying to help her out when she made one of many trips to Colombia to try to get him back. From 2002-2005 I saw his photo every day when I went to work as it was posted in the hallway as a remembrance.
I'm trying to get some contact information for him right now. If I get it, I'll pass it on to you.
