We were at the outlet mall in Allen at the Merrell store and I'm being my usual engaging self to the young lady behind the counter - I'm quite sure she didn't know what to think of [livejournal.com profile] catttitude and I as I carried on about this and that while trying on shoes. Occasionally other customers would come in, look around, and leave. I had my shoes off, and was walking around looking for a different pair when some minority youths came in. I made a visual check of all my stuff.

Some would call this prejudicial of me.

They would be wrong. I can assure you, my opinion is not based prematurely, on preconceptions, or without merit. Rather, though pragmatic first-hand observations and experiences. Think of it more as bias. As there was an adult present, I was far less concerned. Though I am curious, do they teach their children to steal, or simply turn a blind eye? My brother has explained to me many times that if its not locked up, its free for the taking.

Of course he's been arrested too many times for me to count, so I consider his assumptions suspect and his conclusion flawed.

Either way, they managed to steal my six-year-old Guess prescription sunglasses, which were in their case, adjacent my boxes of shoes. I hope they burn in hell.

At least they didn't also take my shoes.

Stupid fuckers.

Undaunted, I ended up with the Chameleon Hex the replacement for the Chameleon II I came looking for. These are much less bulky as the fasteners aren't folded leather, nor is the leather molded like on the Chameleon II. Alas, they didn't have my color (shown below) so I ended up with brown mesh. They're very comfortable.

I also found my Polo shirts for 75% off, with another 50% off at the register: $9 each. I bought five, $100 shirts for $50. This breaks me previous record of $12.75 per shirt. Other sundry items included Paint Your Wagon (listening to now) and of course, some of those stupid clasp-type, clip-around, cheap-assed "sunglasses."

Last night [livejournal.com profile] catttitude and I spent with [livejournal.com profile] jesskd26 and [livejournal.com profile] drax0r as they hosted us for BSG and ziti. We drank a lot of Shiner Black and watched the first two episodes of Season 4. It was fantastic. The ziti was fantastic. Everything was fantastic. So much so, in fact, that I spent the next seven hours digesting both my meal, and the show, in lieu of sleep. Thank you both.

Prejudice? Perhaps. Rec'd a call today from the shoe store. They found my glasses. They were stuffed in one of the bins. How they got there is anyone's guess. I've already heard a few, but I don't want to spread any more hate than this post has already sparked. I pick them up tomorrow.

Little turd bastards! Karma is a bitch, they'll get theirs.

Watching BSG this week, seeing Starbuck scream "We're going the wrong way! We're going the wrong way! all I could think of was Steve Martin and John Candy in that POS Le Baron Convertible. Planes, Trains, Automobiles, & Intergalactic Star Cruisers. Oh My.

You finished Season 3 I presume? What did you think?

I do not think that it is prejudice to keep an eye on your belongings. Would a reasonable person apply the same logic to children? I'm downtown with my 3 year old. Yeah, this creepy guy came around, but I didn't want to seem prejudice so I let me kid wander. What a crock of bullshit! You've got to protect your own. Remember the line from Scarface: Never underestimate the other guy's greed!

In other news, at least you get new sunglasses.

I wonder if now would be the time to tell the story about how you had to leave the airport early as you only brought your sunglasses. You have no excuse to do so now.

P. S. Love the avatar. I couldn't choose between my Bert and Citizen Kane avatar to respond to your post. Maybe I'll alternate between the two.

P. P. S. I chose Citizen Kane because of the research I did today and to match yours. How long did it take to create your avatar?

What a crock of bullshit!
Good point.

In other news, at least you get new sunglasses.
How do you figure? That's $300 I haven't budgeted for.

I wonder if now would be the time to tell the story about how you had to leave the airport early as you only brought your sunglasses.
Its not a story. Its not even and interesting anecdote. In fact, you just about summed it up perfectly.

Love the avatar.
Thank you.

How long did it take to create your avatar?
About eight seconds.

Fast for a week. Walk to work. No alcohol. Something. Trade off.

In fact, you just about summed it up perfectly.
You said it was like one of those conversations we'd have online going back and forth. I do recall you tried to blame me, but I correctly pointed out that I wasn't the one who left my glasses at the house knowing full well that I couldn't drive without them.

You know what's going to be fun? When they put the glasses on and realize they can't see a damned thing because the prescription is too strong!

Thank you.
Your welcome.

About eight seconds.

This is the issue with them being stupid, and why I hope they rot in hell.

What's your average meet to bed time?
I don't know what this means.

Nigger PLEASE, That's just common sense!!!

Who the fuck you callin' nigger?
Date/Time: 2008-04-13 15:06 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
Is that "common sense" because I'm of a different race? Do they think the same as us? Do they get nervous when each other are around, or is there an unwritten code?
Date/Time: 2008-04-13 15:21 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] schpydurx.livejournal.com
If you're ever in a wreck with them, tell them that it is your duty to call the police and file a report. When the nervously knee-jerk and decline, tell them that it is going to take $1200 to repair your car. You'll get the whole wad in cash on the spot!

The trials and triumphs of shopping...
If you had been shopping at "NWP" - you would have been the minorities!

Sorry to hear about your sunglasses. Those "youths" must have been in training or else they would have stolen from the store itself.

You and Mandruid are the only ones I know who wear Merrells. Mandruid also says they're really comfortable. I really like them.

Date/Time: 2008-04-13 16:58 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
My first day in STL I walked around NWP that night and more people spoke to me than anywhere else my entire duration there.

If only I'd known they were sizing me up to shiv me!

The Merrells are so very nice. Mandruid has excellent taste ;) [livejournal.com profile] catttitude even tried on the Chameleon for Women. (I think that's going to be her next pair of shoes.)

I haven't seen Paint Your Wagon in years.

I remember every Sunday, as a child, watching western's and musical's with my Grandparents. It was a tradition that I now miss since they're gone.

Mom would also let me stay up late so we could watch the That's Entertainment movies when they were on. It was our special time together.

Folks are coming over for burgers today. I put on the sountrack while I was cleaning the kitchen and making my daily juice (with no mustard greens).

My father often had a musical playing in the mornings on the weekends while he was preparing us kids breakfast and the such. I love those memories.

Mmmmm! Grilled burgers. Now you've made me crave one! Damn you!!!!! :)

Have a fantastic day and please do stay away from the mustard greens.

HOT STUFF!!!!!!! ;)

Now that stuff was good! Although we probably couldv'e done with only a single can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce...

Mmm, burgers! That totally reminded me that I bought ground beef a while ago when we had carnivores over and I didn't use it. I froze it and forgot it until now. Grazie!

"Some would call this prejudicial of me."

It is a reality based learned behavior. We both grew up in the public school system. We went to school with some of the best and worst of all the races in our country. It was not in the curriculum but we were taught to expect certain behaviors from visual cues. Like we could expect Luciano to steal a donut when no one was looking. I have other examples but they are too long to discuss here. One I can think of happened that last night we were in Bridgeport in 8th grade involving a friend of J J's that was stealing from all of us.

I hated that we had to test to get in to the magnet, go through an acceptance ritual, and then have DISD allow a percentage of those in the projects across the street to "automatically" attend.

I wouldn't have minded it if they were there to learn.

But they were not.

Their goal was disruption and chaos. And yes sir, they did manage to teach us a few things, didn't they?

Dude, I can't believe they stole your frakking sunglasses. Bastards. :/

The design of Merrells remind me of my Keens, which I love above and beyond any other show I've worn. But, they are sandals and I need closed-toe shoes sometimes.

I've downloaded episode 2 and plan to watch when I finish my homework. Which I am really, really, really not wanting to do right now. But BSG is at the end of the tunnel today. *gulps Monster*

Dude, I can't believe they stole your frakking sunglasses.
Apparently, they didn't get far with them (see edit). Either that, or I was more apprehensive than I led on to, took them so they wouldn't, and absent-mindedly stuffed them somewhere myself. I don't know what to believe at this point. I should know more tomorrow.

But, they are sandals and I need closed-toe shoes sometimes.
Not knowing what a Keen was, I looked it up. Nice! Looks like they make non-sandals as well. Just not in the D/FW area.

*gulps Monster*
Hell yeah!
Date/Time: 2008-04-13 23:43 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] irulan-amy.livejournal.com
Hmm, very weird.

My testimonial for Keens is this: I wore them through a 16 hour day at Disneyland without the LEAST bit of discomfort. I was not aware they made non-sandals (*is nerd*). I shall have to look them up.
