I started thinking about this when I ran into a guy at work. He knows [livejournal.com profile] photogoot, so I invited him to the party. Then I got an email from a buddy of mine who knows this guy at work and photogoot, so I invited him too, even though no one else will know them. It's also going to be a mini-Langley AFB reunion. How do these things happen? So, all the Tribal Council know each other, because we're community-based and the leader dudes physically host at their house. And its true that some of them have been mingling with my lj buddies, but I have to ask myself after the above example, How deep does the rabbit hole go?

[livejournal.com profile] galinda822 has met [livejournal.com profile] photogoot has met [livejournal.com profile] celtmanx has met [livejournal.com profile] drax0r has met [livejournal.com profile] danzigfried has met [livejournal.com profile] galinda822. And that's only the ones coming!

[livejournal.com profile] drax0r knows [livejournal.com profile] prog_guy69 who [livejournal.com profile] galinda822 and I were supposed to meet earlier this year, but that didn't work out due to weather and navigational errors. But only in the last six months have I met [livejournal.com profile] jesskd26 who is [livejournal.com profile] drax0r's wife and [livejournal.com profile] crowy who is [livejournal.com profile] jesskd26's best friend. And [livejournal.com profile] drax0r and I know [livejournal.com profile] leonardii and even though [livejournal.com profile] danzigfried and [livejournal.com profile] unixwolf (who knows [livejournal.com profile] drax0r and I) have never met, [livejournal.com profile] danzigfried knows of what [livejournal.com profile] unixwolf is known for (namely, Unixwolf) and though [livejournal.com profile] bigdog_etc and [livejournal.com profile] jaceman used to work with [livejournal.com profile] galinda822 and I, those two will be unable to attend.

No one has ever met [livejournal.com profile] schpydurx who's flying up from Alabama, nor [livejournal.com profile] irulan_amy who was considering flying here from California.

So far I'm sitting at about 30 confirmed, with another 30 possibly showing up. My wife no longer thinks she can manifest enough chili to feed these people, so we're farming some of it out to the Tribal Council. Basically, the citizens of Anna are helping sponsor this event. Thank you.

So I'm working on setting up my playlist, based in part by the many suggestions I received on my last post. Some of these songs require me ripping parts of my existing CD collection, but what I'm finding the most enjoyable is dropping in main titles here and there. Poledouris mostly. What a pleasant surprise! This evening, provided I have some time, I'm going to drop some musicals in there. A couple of tracks from The Pajama Game and The Man of La Mancha ought to do it. Maybe Annie Get Your Gun.

Thanksgiving for us this year will be spent with my folks in Wise County. Jalapeño cornbread, jalapeño stuffing, and jalapeño gravy. I can't wait! I haven't seen my parents in a month. It'll be a nice time. It always is. And his turkey is always...perfect.

This weekend we'll continue to get things set for the party (as this is the last weekend), Thursday my wife is hosting a Home Interiors-type party, Friday all my out-of-state guests arrive, and then BAM! Its the first of December. I think I'll have a Virtual Guestbook set-up. It'll be a post entitled...well, "Guestbook" and everyone who shows up will log in and then "sign in." Perfect.

You guys go enjoy some turkey.

I aim to misbehave.

Sitting here this evening ripping tunes, sipping Dalmore Cigar Malt...thinking of having a cigar with my wife. Good tunes, the kids are out of school, I'm working only half a day tomorrow. I must admit this "Playlist" thing is taking more time that I would've expected, but only because of the logistics of file moving. You see, my external iTunes volume is now directly attached USB to the PowerMac G4, and I believe that's only a 1.1 interface. Ergo, scp across the wire directly to that drive is slow...and causes iTunes the application to thrash as it loads new music. So I try to do many things at once; download, transfer, rip. I have two 1GB thumbdrives, but the G4 has only two USB ports - one for the keyboard/mouse, the other for the iTunes directory. And with the application thrashing due to the 1.1 interface, I really can't do anything else on that box. So here I sit. Sipping scotch and ripping tunes. Its not so bad.

Of course as I've been to many social events over the past six months, I've run plumb out of my daily smokers, and and down to the good cigars I keep in reserve. I've had to dip into those these past few weeks. My Arturo Fuente's, La Gloria Cubana, those gorgeous Montecristo's [livejournal.com profile] celtmanx gave me. I have one Cohiba left, and believe it or not, a $15 box-pressed Rocky Patel. That one had better be good. This weekend I smoked on my wife's fat Drew Estates. Not bad. Today, however, and since I'm running out of cigars, I chose a cigar that [livejournal.com profile] somebritinmass had handmade for me while he was in London three years ago. I have one more, one he had handmade for me last year. Cubans, I believe, but I didn't store these with my overpowering Paratagas Series D, No. 4. I stored these separately.

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] somebritinmass I rec'd a package from his recent trip back to the UK. A healthy amount of FIRE HOT CARIBBEAN JERK, two measures of Piri-Piri (thank you), and this very nice hand-painted house-warming gift. Thanks dude, that's awesome!

Hey I am not opposed to bringing my own beer. Never have been never will be. Maybe one day we can organize it and get everyone to chip in like 5 to ten bucks for a keg. We have been to some awesome super bowl parties like that. They get the money back for the keg or KEGS and we all get to have a good time. He asked me tonight if the kids were going to be able to go to the company thing. I said they better be! It does suck how they hand out the Bonus as Christmas presents and then all the other people that do not go get shifted out of the money. That does not seem right to me. I'm looking forward to coming to the party at the expense of telling my husband NO CHATTERING with anyone once this thing is over. (if you know him you know he says like one word every other day) and to get the heck out of Sherman because I have BIGGER AND BETTER festivities to go to. I will be there as soon as humanly possible. If nothing else I will put clothes in the car to change into once I get to your house. Hopefully I can get there before the spousal unit bars and locks the doors to your house.
