I think the blue layout is very pleasing to the eye and goes better with the pictures at the top of the page. I also feel that the contrast between the background and the text will make it a bit smoother to read than the amber (although in that arena, it is tied with the green).

Thank you so much! I appreciate your input.

I have been wishing for you to change to the amber every time I see your pages since you teased us for a few days with the last switch. That was until now....

I may stop reading anything you write until you give us the blue pages!

Blue is sooooo awesome!

I don't know why you are waiting....

I think green makes me angry.

Amber aka Orange makes me angry but then again I am an Aggie so that's expected!!!!

Date/Time: 2007-07-12 04:15 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
Perhaps, but you are aware that there are different colleges, and that they have different teams, and that those teams are usually rivals?
Date/Time: 2007-07-12 04:25 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] photogoot.livejournal.com
And they have funny mascots and different school colors... Ya I commit exactly .000000000001% of my memory space to such matters.

I don't care for the amber but I think I've told you that before.

I vote for the Blue.
Date/Time: 2007-07-12 03:37 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
Amber licks ass. Blue is the new green. How cool is that? Thanks for your vote!
Date/Time: 2007-07-11 03:57 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] leonardii.livejournal.com
Actually, I voted for the green.

But taking a second look, the blue does provide a nice background for all of your Air Force and other military material and of course the all awesome Union Jack. I know the avatars change, but after looking at the amber - I again decided the blue would definitely look best.

I'm not wishy-washy. I just had to take a moment to think. But that's me. A man has a right to change his mind, does he not?

If not, the world would be in serious peril.

Date/Time: 2007-07-12 03:36 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
I appreciate your input. And thanks for walking us through the decision-making process. I personally find it fascinating how your mind works.
Date/Time: 2007-07-12 18:58 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] leonardii.livejournal.com
Ah yes, my first response with the blue atmosphere - cool, calm, collected. Such as it is, it does quite so fit the man who created its look and feel.

Bravo!

I wish to *thank you* once again for your decisive use of compliments. Just as I was feeling "blue" (Ha, no pun intended), your words gave me just the bit of invigoration that I needed to get on the path to break the mood.

I just suppose I have so much on my mind, and the cross that we all bear grows burdensome as problems of life multiply. Even small events, like that of a small fly - can ruin a beautiful feast. This feast I'm talking about is of course - life. I'm ready to start my next semester, and drink in the waters of joy. But it feels that my time is running short and I don't want to begin my studies with looming annoyances hanging above my head.

But sir, once again thank you for your compliments.

Back when my wife and I were courting and she was in Russia and I was here in America, I once described my mind as though it was a fractal. Simple enough of a concept to grasp, but the depth is forever. And behind each new "spin" as the fractal grows deeper, each corner, curve, small nook, and each isthmus - holds a piece to the next layer beneath... and the fractal seemingly never ends, no matter how small it gets, to where it no longer can be seen by the human eye - there are a multitude of complexities which make up my inner self and which shows only through my persona. For those who dive into the fractal - it's a spectacular show of a vivid life, simple on the first round, but many mysteries that are hidden as the fractal spindles beyond what can be seen. I myself, look down into the fractal, and sometimes I am surprised at what I see of my true self. Some things that I have done - pure and selfless deeds of exceeding charity and love, and some others of just sheer brutality.

I wish I still had it - but as a young boy, when I first got my Apple 2C, I drew in what their version was of "paintbrush" a picture that I entitled "How my mind works." I can see it now from memory, and I remember seeing circles attached to triangles, with rectangular bridges. And all around, the spray gun fleshed out the image with a beautiful combination of color. And inside the pixels, I enlarged the view to make secret words - words that could not be seen unless the image was enlarged to see individual pixels. I wrote little poems - in pixels, like they do on tiny grains of rice. Other tiny images embedded within the skein of pixels were that of a shield, and a sword, but also of hearts - a tiny image of Shakespeare (my hero on words). I also included formulas of equations that I saw in books - equations now that I know their meaning, but back then - as a boy, the equations just had a beauty - and I wished to unlock their secrets. I also included words of those people that were dear to me - all scattered about, all in varying sizes of pixels.

Like I said - the image has been lost forever, except in my own mind. When printed out - it looked like a pretty cool piece of modern art. I was quite proud.

So - now all of that, the skein of what images were the makings of my mind are now bound inside that of a fractal, growing deeper as each year of my life grows deeper.

Thank you for helping to rekindle those thoughts, images, and words.

And for the record - to me, your mind is most fascinating as well. Yours is a mind that sometimes I wish to emulate, sometimes wishing to duplicate, and sometimes just wishing to know more. I can truly say that I have never met anyone of your caliber with as much keen wit. There's more than that, of course. But I was just being specific. You know I can be more broad if necessary.

But for the sake of brevity now, I will close. Thank you, my friend.

I like the fractal analogy.
Date/Time: 2007-07-13 03:39 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] leonardii.livejournal.com
Yes, me too. A fractals is simple to grasp, but yet - how deep can it truly go. And that is my pursuit of my current education - how far can I go. It's not just a spin and a fall, one must wind down a twisting, complexity of a strange, mysterious shape and structure. It's not just the learning - but where will it take me as a man? Can I truly go the distance? I'm praying so.

You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

I did like the amber and have recently found myself wishing that you would switch to it. That having been said, it was rough on the eyes. I'm a fan of blue. Just look at my blogs.

If you ever compare my gorgeously crafted site again with your basic point & click BACKGROUND="0000FF" I will stab you in your eyes!

it isn't point and click. Defy me and all of your readers then: change to the amber!

I personally, like the green. It's a cross between the old school monochrome look and something out of The Matrix. Some of the blue blurs into the black and the amber is a little too bright for me.

I say stick with the green (but that's just my opinion).

And of course that's exactly what it was supposed to be. Old console WYSE terminal or something to that effect (you should have seen version 1.0!). Thanks so much for your input.

Well sir, you got the look you were going for. Apparently I am in the minority in that I prefer the green to the blue and amber. But as someone else pointed out, it is your blog ... do with it as you may. Change it to blue if you like. If you decide you don't like it, change it back.

Ok you have not implimented the blue scheme I voted for. I do love the ble but why the voyager pic. The previously presented blue design was perfect and unified without being symmetrical. It was just perfect. I can only handle one change at a time. First the color, let that settle in, then if you must and only after a waiting period then experiment with changing the image design. Sheees! I would think this would go without saying...

Big, Big, HUGE fan of the blue BTW!

My domain? http://darkvoyager.com? Ring any bells? I'm working on integrating everything into a single site. It's going to be a lot of work. "Blue" was a part of that.

Big, Big, HUGE fan of the blue BTW!
Glad you like it!

Oh yes I recognize darkvoyager.com.... However I am sure I do not fully understand the scope of what you are working on.

I'm sure.

Also like the green. It's your site Eric. Do what you want. :-D

I think I vote blue for a time. :-) And if you get tired of it, change it back! :-)

I can see the forward section of Voyager!!!!
Date/Time: 2007-07-12 02:47 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
It was there - then it was gone! I was using the background I'd created for my example, but it lost out, and now its back again.

Hint: Different resolutions will reveal more of the ship.

OK here is a question for you. Why can a smart guy like you not implement a scheme where you have three sites, one for each color, where the content is mirrored? I mean besides not caring... ;-)

Discuss...
Date/Time: 2007-07-12 03:26 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
I most certainly could! If I were running the server. There's nothing at all stopping me from installing my own blog on my server and having:

  1. amber.darkvoyager.com/blog

  2. blue.darkvoyager.com/blog

  3. green.darkvoyager.com/blog

But then that would destroy the sense of community I have on livejournal.

We like community better than fancy surface colors. Wow that is deep if you think about it...

And in my case, I have both. Hooray me.
