Hail, Knight of the Woeful Countenance,
Knight of the Woeful Countenance!
Wherever you go
People will know
Of the glorious deeds
Of the Knight of the Woeful Countenance!

What a fantastic day today turned out to be! DST not only kicked my ass in its preparation last week, but it snuck up on me again last night and bit me square in the ass. I was unable to go to sleep until midnight, after sleeping 12-hours the night before and spending the evening at the neighbors house updating their computers. I spent the evening in bed with my Vaio UX280P, updating avatars and chatting with [livejournal.com profile] photogoot. I even installed Photoshoo Elements on the tiny computer to assist my laying-in-bed photo editing. I'm sure going to miss that little toy. If I had that back when I was a unix system administrator, I wouldn't have ever needed to even leave my bed to fix problems in the middle of the night. How cool is that?

Farewell and good cheer
Oh my brave cavalier
Ride onward to glorious strife.
I swear when you're gone
I'll remember you well
For all of the rest of my life.

I have my blood work tomorrow, and my blood pressure is high despite the medication here lately. I really need to get my fat ass back up on that treadmill. I've been concentrating on my diet, but I need to step it up. Watching BSG now, so as to afford an early bedtime. I'm ready for some catch-up sleep. At any rate, woke up early despite my late bedtime and remained fuzzy a good part of the morning until some coffee slapped me across the face and kept me running until close to the end of the business day. Oh you darkest of roasts - fill me with your lifeforce!

I'm greatly enjoying the performance by the guest star on BSG. Outstanding. Everything they've done with his character, they've done right. The actors mannerisms & expressions are perfect compliments to the lines they've given him. Outside of Dean Stockwell, he may be my new favorite guest star. And I really enjoy how the Colonial Marines on this show are so very authentic Marines. Semper Fi.

Hail, Knight of the Woeful Countenance,
Knight of the Woeful Countenance
Fare to the foe,
They will quail at the sight
Of the Knight of the Woeful Countenance!
Oh valorous Knight,
Go and fight for the right,
And battle all villains that be,
But oh, when you do,
What will happen to you
Thank God I won't be there to see!

I didn't get a chance to finish BSG. Maybe tomorrow night.

Good luck with your blood work in the morning. Hopefully your's will come back better than mine did!

Don't waste your time.

ASS!!! Don't give everything away. Somethings are best found out on your own.

Agreed! And of course, some things aren't. Like your 'spoiler' for example...

In your avatar, how did the guy on the left get his arm to go backwards to jab the other guy in the ribs???

In short. Your an ASS!!!

Thanks! I'll see you around 1000 hours.

Why do you have to give it up? How much are they retail and what would it do to buy one personally?
Date/Time: 2007-03-13 04:35 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
I'll eventually have to give it up because it isn't mine. It's the clients. As IS Manager, I have certain...requirements. One is to be familiar with hardware. I have a company laptop I keep next to the couch, and a company Vaio I keep by my bed.

They're $2000.

It would take $2000.
Date/Time: 2007-03-13 04:42 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] schpydurx.livejournal.com
Well, is there a way that you can get the client to get you one for the purposes of "troubleshooting"?

I was talking to Tony about that thing and he told me that he'd never have to leave Hooters if he had one. Just think, for $2000, he could have remained a happy bachlor for life.

With its built-in broadband air card, you don't even have to be in a wi-fi hotspot. You can lay flat on your back in bed and, in the middle of the night, VPN in, secure shell into a box at work to fix it, or, if you have to, launch RDC to remote into a windows server. It really is the perfect sysadmin device.

now that's nice.

Yes, but the service is expensive. Ergo, just like your IDE over SCSI because of cost, you've just purchased a brick. Congratulations.

didn't this device just come out a couple of months ago? What's in that laptop you use?
Date/Time: 2007-03-13 06:12 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
I'm certainly not prepared to detail to you the laptop's specs. Can you be more specific about what it is you're trying to address?

,i. Just think, for $2000, he could have remained a happy bachlor for life.

For $95.00 he married me! I think he got the better of the two!

My dear sweet Jessica. The difference is, the Vaio is not upgradable.

It wouldnt surprise me to find out your BP is high because of work.

Also to find out that the medication isnt working, or if it is it is doing more harm then good.

I have very little faith in medications.

Dads is constantly 120/80 here at home. He went to the doctor... and it sky rocketed to 210/95. He was perscribed medicine, but refuses to take it because he knows that his blood pressure is fine.

When they got that outragious number, he had been sitting on the examination table for a little under an hour, no back rest, which is a natural BP raiser, and it was taken 8 times over that hour long until they got that outragious number. The doctor of course... being ornery wrote down the highest reading.

I told dad, next time he goes in for this, I am going into the room with him, and taking his blood pressure for them, and writing it down. Because he gets his BP taken by me every night, and I have medically recognized equipment, I'm not an employee of the office, but if they dont like it they dont have to have our business.

Another factor is that he gets two differant readings per arm.

His right arm is always 10 less then his left.

I just hope my cholesterol has gone down since last quarter. And you're probably right about the BP...I've been under a lot of stress lately.
Date/Time: 2007-03-14 01:15 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] snapper521.livejournal.com
Do you take it every night? And if so, I hope that you have someone who will actually take it for you instead of trusting the electronic ones you can get in wally world etc... The electronic ones are not reliable.
Date/Time: 2007-03-14 01:30 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ehowton.livejournal.com
I used to put it in my blog. That's when I carried it with me. Now I keep it in my office. But I haven't been in my office in awhile. Its a long story. In short, no. And yes, its an electronic one. There are no actively training EMT's in my household.

*giggle* Yes Sir.

You could buy a medically recognized blood pressure cuff and stethascope and you could have your wife or Galinda take your blood pressure.

I was mucho impressed with the new guest star. He was really intriguing and did an excellent job. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

Best I can tell, he'll be in at least two more episodes!

Rock on, Renegade
Berserker Warrior
Hidden in the glades

Ready to pounce
As if a jungle cat
Measures fear by the ounce
With fist fulls of courage

Rock on, Renegade
Unstoppable force
My friend, my ally
Who lives by the blade.

His blade is sharp
His heart is stout
And enemies ever cower
Thence his name is shout

Juggernaut yes, lover too
Slays beasts, and women swoon
He rides like thunder
The mighty oak even feels his boom

For his glory, he remains alone
Sitting atop a great lonely mountain
He weeps and feels no shame
For he simply pines his comrade Howton.

Well, maybe not as elegantly rhythmic and certainly not as witty as yours...

But I think my poem did justice about the feelings in my heart!
