For me (and most people who enjoy the superpower of ADHD) caffeine isn't just a morning drink or afternoon pick-me-up, it is also a regulator. Ask almost anyone who has ADHD and they'll tell you when they absolutely, positively must go to sleep immediately they'll crack an energy drink and shoot it. That's a guaranteed lights-out...if your brain agrees. And there's the kicker. It may not.

During my month of vacation I've been sipping decaf in the evenings, going to bed at 0600 and getting up for my day between 1100-1400. Last night - knowing I would be driving to Oklahoma - I decided a fully-leaded cup of joe in place of my usual decaf would be advantageous to my pending journey. It was not. I passed out half an hour later.

The good news is I am up, dressed and packed super early after nearly a full night's sleep and only four hours behind an arbitrarily set imposed timeline. Though I do wonder what this "reset" is going to do to the rest of my vacation. Interestingly enough, smack dab in the middle of my month-long vacation I am working the calendar year's last production maintenance this Saturday night. Remind me to drink decaf just in case!
