Hear me now
Oh thou bleak and unbearable world,
Thou art base and debauched as can be;
And a knight with his banners all bravely unfurled
Now hurls down his gauntlet to thee!
I am I, Don Quixote,
The Lord of La Mancha,
My destiny calls and I go,
And the wild winds of fortune
Shall carry me onward,
Oh whithersoever they blow.
Whithersoever they blow,
Onward to glory I go!

I'm Sancho! Yes, I'm Sancho!
I'll follow my master till the end.
I'll tell all the world proudly -
I'm his squire! I'm his friend!

Hear me, heathens and wizards
And serpents of sin!
All your dastardly doings are past,
For a holy endeavor is now to begin
And virtue shall triumph at last!

I am I, Don Quixote,
The Lord of la Mancha,
My destiny calls and I go,
And the wild winds of fortune
Will carry me onward,
Oh whithersoever they blow!

I'm Sancho! Yes, I'm Sancho!
I'll follow my master till the end.
I'll tell all the world proudly
I'm his squire! I'm his friend!

Whithersoever they blow,
Onward to glory I {we} go!

No sir, I am simply fulfilling the embodiment of the personification you have bestowed upon me, and understand sir, that I do so with humility and respect.

I wish you would voice post more of these passionate rants. That would be something special.

Also, that was not lost on me.

I didn't think it was. I was simply trying to convey the depth of sincerity I've committed to this on what may have been just a whim to you, but which has permeated my thoughts day and night since. How sad, really. And how cruel.

You truly are a tortured soul.

I wish I had such a friendship as the two of you do.

I have to confess something to you...I'd never before read 'Don Quixote'. But because of this post, I read parts of it last night. Once I'm caught up on my reading list I may have to read the whole thing.

Read it? Neither have I. I haven't even ever seen the Broadway musical from which I quoted - but you know me; I grew up listening to the 1965 Original Cast Recording. I think I'll buy it new on amazon next month.

....or download it from iTunes and make it available as an accompaniment!

I really like Don Quixote. And just yesterday I noticed a poster for Man of La Mancha downtown. :) I should go see it.

You should! Oh how I'd love to go. My next musical will be Dirty Rotten Scoundrels playing here in August.
