2% Checking

I typed in, "HIGH YIELD CHECKING ACCOUNTS" and got back the sponsored offerings of USAA & American Express, both of which I'm members. It was embarrassing - something like 0.2% or 0.3% and none of the other returns were any better. My own bank has its 60-month CD listed at 1%.

But then a person of interest told me about a local Kansas bank offering a whopping 2% with no minimum balance, up to $10k.
