Carrying highly unstable freight

One track switches Northbound
One track switches South
Betwix the randomly switching fork
Lies a cold, deep lake's mouth

No such brake to speak of
No emergency decelerator
Self-healing ablative armor activates
Ineffective if ending as a crater

At this dangerous velocity
Either turn would rip asunder
Slow-motion dance of twisted metal;
The roar of screaming thunder

I stare dumbly at the excessively complicated controls
