Things I've Never Done
Its a very short list of things I've never done. Illegal drugs and extreme sports are two, although I did go bungee-jumping once in Virginia Beach. Not sure that counts. The rest of the things you think I may never have done, well, you'd probably be surprised.
I was in my mid-twenties before I ever saw a snow plow. I awoke one very early morning to what I thought was the first volley of world-wide destruction outside my apartment window in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. I leaped from my bed and raced to the window only to discover a pickup truck-mounted snow plow scraping the snow and ice from the parking lot. As I had never seen one before, it took me a few seconds to realize what it was I was seeing, and that the world wasn't ending. Later that day I saw my first big rig snow plow. Fleets of magnificent creatures which roamed the roadways keeping them clear.
Mark my mid-forties before I ever had to shovel snow. Working from home has it many advantages. But when the kids run low on food, or perhaps more importantly toilet paper, extreme intervention is required. This weekend, between Winter Storm's Q and Rocky, I shoveled snow. I cleared my front porch, the entire walkway to the driveway, and the driveway itself.
In other news, I didn't have a heart attack :)
