New Toy

Just got a new toy in the office, the Sony Vaio UX280P. What a sweet piece of work!

It's a full version of Windows XP (which is far less gay than say, Media Center or PocketPC) in a widescreen format with built-in wireless/bluetooth/USB, full docking station & portable port replicator. This little puppy has a full gigabyte of RAM and a 1.2GHz Intel Core Solo chip. This little thing is with a quickness! Of course the first thing I did was install Firefox.

And now, for something completely different, and taking a page out of the book of [livejournal.com profile] irulan_amy, I am on Second Life as London Packbiers. Yes, they have a Mac client.

No, I was talking about the previous version, the UX180P which had some problems with battery life, usability and rather low end components. http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_VAIO_UX180P_Micro_PC_VGN_UX180P/4505-3126_7-31879278.html
I am pleased to see they have apparently greatly improved the unit. Though frankly I think that price is outrageous for what you get. Pretty thing though.

Agreed. I support the National Headquarters of a healthcare organization and have to the keep the CEO knee-deep in new gadgets to play with. Many of the VP's have been requesting tablet-pc's (which I hate) so we're hoping this will be a viable option for them. I still have a lot of playing around to do, but it is a fully functional operating system, and so far, it rox0rs. I think tomorrow we're going to try to put OSX x86 on it. After that, I may try to put Kubuntu on it ;)

Search on man.
Calm savior, god speed and forgive you
Morning star, fragrant meadowperson girl.

Nice to meet you!
