Gay

In what turned out to be the classic symptoms of anti-cultural philistineism, I took heed of "The Sixth Elegy" from Milton's Paradise Lost and turned to "...wine,food and love" to break this spell of the muses' antithesis. [livejournal.com profile] drax0r and I threw a combined birthday party, to which, unbeknownst to us, our wives had collaborated to have the local confectioner bake us a cake with the words, "Heterosexual Life Mates" frosted on top. The confectioner even visited "official" gay sites to ensure the rainbow colors were in the proper order:

Even though it was a gift-less party, I managed to score a very nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from Daisy & RBO (of Tribal Council fame) and a nice bottle of Glenmorangie from Wingnut (also of Tribal Council). [livejournal.com profile] texas_tangent made a whole platterful of her now-famous sausage balls to compliment [livejournal.com profile] drax0r's grilled Shiner Bock bratwursts. Everything was fantastic. Thanks guys. I left after a losing game of Texas Hold'em - I did my part to kill the keg, but when [livejournal.com profile] glodowg and [livejournal.com profile] mr_dowg left, I tried to make an unnoticed departure with them, thwarted by [livejournal.com profile] glodowg who accidentally set off the panic alarm of her father's truck which she drove to the party.

My wife spent all day at various garage sales in the area with her mother and [livejournal.com profile] glodowg today while [livejournal.com profile] mr_dowg and I watched the kids and Cutthroat Island. Tomorrow, he and I are heading out for Cardiac Fries at "Scotty P's" and a visit to Kegs and Barrels for some great beer.

What a day!

That cake? It's made of pure, unadulterated, 100% WIN, with a side order of WIN-sauce and a drizzling of WIN-sprinkles.

PS. Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] drax0r!

(are the rainbow sparklies rainbow-ish enough? ;) )

Chuckleheads - the whole lot of 'em!

Best of Happy Birthday wishes sent to you and your friend.

If Skittles has a "rainbow of fruit flavors" - tell me, what does an actual rainbow taste like? They have scientifically proven there are people who can *taste* different colors. Are you one of those folks? ';)

The rainbow on that cake tasted like creamy whipped sugar - it was the richest part of the cake, and I couldn't even finish my piece!

I know that I could not finish mine either, even though I am eating for two.

Love the cake! It makes me giggle. Glad you had a great time.

Watch out for those Cardiac Fries though. Extra hard workout will be required. hehe

I'm not eating like that, nor drinking that much again for two months. I met a cop last night who works out seven days a week - his arms were like jackhammers. He said I needed only 20-minutes a day on the treadmill, walking, at the highest incline possible to make my time spent on the Bowflex more worthwhile.

I believe it! I've been working out with weights Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Walking 3 miles Monday thru Friday. I can already tell a difference in my legs and arms. I actually have some definition and muscle in my arms. You won't even recognize me in 2 months. hehe

I try my best. lol

I had an awesome time. I am happy that you and yours had a good time too. Can't wait for the next time that we can all get together!!

That cake is awesome. Sorry I missed it.

Me too! It was moist and chocolatey - only about half was eaten by the time I left because it was so rich - and the creamy whipped sugar was over the top. HEAD RUSH! You would've liked it. The confectioner linked above does a great job.
