Same As It Ever Was

Today began like any other. My cell phone alarm clock began its ascending cacaphony of electronics beeps whilst flashing and vibrating, eventually drawing me from my slumber. "Snooze." Repeat. I jump out of bed at 0710 refreshed and ready to face the day head on. I drink the 20-ounces of water I keep by my bedside when I wake and head for the shower. Shave the neck, sear the neck with cologne, and grab a cup of coffee. I dress, check email, pull a DVD I recorded overnight from the recorder and place it in the slimline case I printed the jacket for the night before. Grab my lunch, my bag, my coat, kiss the wife, and i'm off to work. Five full songs play from Green Day's Dookie on my 10-minute drive to work, and I park in my same parking space, across from the side door entrance to our building.

Key-card access, short walk down the hall (passing my office to the kitchen - lunch goes into the fridge), back the way I came, into the IS Department, and I unlock my office door. Shrug off my coat, bring my trash can from outside the door under my desk, snatch up my coffee cup and head back to the kitchen for a pot of fresh brewed coffee. At my desk I check all my email accounts, tickets, livejournal, Dilbert, C.A.D., IM's and voice mail. Daily Service Review is at 0900 then it's off for the first scooby snack of the day with Carla. We exchange plesentries and bemoan upcoming events.

Actually, my life feels a lot like Groundhog Day.

You Are Guinness

You know beer well, and you'll only drink the best beers in the world.
Watered down beers disgust you, as do the people who drink them.
When you drink, you tend to become a bit of a know it all - especially about subjects you don't know well.
But your friends tolerate your drunken ways, because you introduce them to the best beers around.

Coat? You still wear those things there? It's a nice 95 degrees here.

Sports coat/jacket tie, slacks...not a winter coat!

Groundhog Day was intriguing to say the least.

Right. Its a 'sell out to your corporate masters' coat, not a warm winter coat.

Thank you. Since yesterday morning, I've already added three feeds, and removed one (macosx_hints - it was spamming me like an free Viagra email!)

We all sell out in one manner or another. How exactly do you stick it to the man? That's what I thought.

Oh you're right. I really wanna be a rebel, but I can't seem to shake this reputation as a good corporate citizen.

I mean, I always try to be the best-dressed guy in the office. Not too much though, cause I don't want anybody else to feel bad.

I'm always early to work, and always the last to leave.

Every assignment I'm handed gets handled in a quick and proper manner.

I enter my time promptly at the end of each work day, and I submit complete and thorough status reports every week as required.

Perhaps one day, I'll learn to properly 'stick it to the man' - until then, I'll just have to admire the corporate rebel that is [livejournal.com profile] ehowton

Once again I now to reference to the howtonish "Scooby Snack" You might as well be chewing and a plug of manure. Dude. You have to quit that bullshit. Giving it a cute name doesn't make it any less disgusting. If you don't quit, again, you will be moaning to me through your sawed off cancerous jaw about how you wish you would have listioned to me.

Have a nice day!
